62 ink PNG images with transparent background
Ink sticks and carved inkstones, brush-painted plum branches, koi, bamboo, a running deer and a snow leopard in wash technique, blue and red splashes, a pen leaking a drop — and, oddly, a handful of rings and gift boxes the source filed here as well.

Two very different kinds of ink
Most of the theme splits cleanly in two. One half is East Asian brush painting: plum blossom, lotus, carp, cranes, mountains with a sailboat, the Forbidden City drum tower. The other half is ink as a raw material — splats, drips, stamped circles and brush strokes with ragged edges. The first tells a story on its own; the second is a building block you put text or a photo on top of.
Where the brush paintings work best
Lunar New Year greetings, tea house menus, a poster for a calligraphy class or a page about Chinese art. Keep them on a warm paper-coloured background: on pure white the soft grey washes lose their depth, and on dark backgrounds the pale edges start to look like dirt.
Using splashes without making a mess
A single splash behind a headline reads as energy; three of them on one slide read as an accident. Pick one colour, scale the splash so part of it bleeds off the edge, and let the text sit over its densest part. The inkstones and ink sticks are a separate case — they are objects, good for an article about traditional tools rather than for decoration.
Questions and answers
Are all ink images really transparent?
Real. We parse the PNG structure and keep only files with an alpha channel; anything with a painted-in background has been removed.
What sizes are available?
In ink the sizes run from 603 to 7 000 px on the long side. Large ones are easiest to find with the “Largest” sort or the minimum-width filter.
Do I need to register to download?
Downloads are free and open. With very frequent requests the site asks to confirm you are not a robot — a normal visitor never sees it.
Can I use ink images commercially?
The catalogue gathers images from open sources. Before commercial use confirm the rights with the author — the source link is on the image page.
