Transparent tree images in PNG

Plum branches brushed in ink and heavy with pink or red blossom, a bamboo grove in blue-grey wash, a temple gate half hidden by trees, a stone church sketched in pen, a slice of globe with houses and a windmill, an autumn park in miniature 3D — and, among them, scrollwork crosses, route maps and a blackletter capital.

Trees mostly in the background

Free-standing trees with trunk and crown are the exception here. Far more often the tree is part of a scene: it shades the pond in front of a temple, lines the path of a small park, stands beside a church or a windmill. If you need a single tree to place on your own layout, look for the park and the globe slice, which can be cropped, rather than expecting a clean isolated specimen.

The ink branch

The largest group comes from East Asian painting. Plum and cherry branches, a bamboo grove, peaks over a lake with a boat: these are brush pictures with blank space left on purpose. They suit a new year card, a tea house menu or a calm page header, and they look best on a pale, paper-like colour rather than pure white.

Why a map and a letter are here

The source gives the word tree to anything branching: family trees, decision trees, scrollwork that grows like a vine. That is how an ornate cross, a chemical structure, a route map and a gothic L ended up in this topic. Judge each file by the preview, not by the name of the page.

Questions and answers

Are all tree images really transparent?

Real. We parse the PNG structure and keep only files with an alpha channel; anything with a painted-in background has been removed.

Are there large files for print?

In tree the sizes run from 640 to 8 400 px on the long side. Large ones are easiest to find with the “Largest” sort or the minimum-width filter.

How many files can I download?

No registration. The only limit is a few dozen files per minute per address, so the catalogue cannot be bulk-scraped.

Can I use tree images commercially?

The catalogue gathers images from open sources. Before commercial use confirm the rights with the author — the source link is on the image page.
