Buildings seen mostly through an artist's hand: a temple gate with sweeping eaves above a still pond, a Byzantine church drawn stone by stone, a pencil study of a facade with notes in the margin, a misty ink skyline and a long red palace wall running under its tiled roof.

Where this category sits
In the Buildings section, architecture gathers styles and details, shop covers storefronts, bridge and furniture speak for themselves. Building is the broadest of them: whole structures shown from outside, whether a single chapel or an entire city line. Look here when you need the silhouette of a place rather than a close-up of a column or a door.
Sketch, ink or photograph
Pencil and pen studies keep their construction lines and handwritten notes, which suits a sketchbook look, a course on drawing or a heritage walk. Ink-wash skylines fade at the edges on purpose, so they sit well across the top of a page and badly inside a small box. The painted palace wall is long and low: a natural strip for a banner.
Before you place it
Drawn buildings often carry a faint paper tone around the lines. Open the image page and zoom in to check the cutout on a dark background. Wide panoramas lose detail when squeezed into a square; crop a section instead of shrinking the whole view.
