Dress among the clothing
Fashion has clothing for garments in general, Suit for tailoring and hat, shoe and bag for everything worn around the outfit. Dress is for the one-piece garment in its many guises: evening and wedding gowns, stage costumes like the tutu, sundresses, and the figures that wear them.
Drawing or photo
Illustrated figures such as the dancer and the bride set a mood rather than sell a garment: use them on an invitation, a dance school flyer or a boutique's about page. For a shop listing you want the dress photographed flat or on an invisible mannequin, front view, with nothing of the model left behind.
Checking the cut-out
Hems and tulle are the hard part. A good file keeps the layers of a skirt partly see-through instead of turning them into solid white; place it on a dark background to check. Look also at the gap between arm and waist: it should be empty, not filled with leftover backdrop.
