Wide black and hot-pink brush strokes with dry, ragged edges, a glossy green apple beside a cut slice, and a snowman in a top hat waving between blue curtains — a mix pulled in by the source’s tagging rather than by the software theme.

Software among its neighbours
Technology is the umbrella for the whole Technology section; hardware covers physical parts; computer, internet and electronics are separate categories. Software should be the programs themselves: app windows, code on a screen, icons for install and update, settings gears, cloud sync, bugs and patches.
Using what is here
The brush strokes are handy as a backdrop behind a headline or a screenshot — put an app window over the pink stroke and you have a bold banner for a product launch. The apple and the snowman came in through source tags; they suit a nutrition app or a winter sale page rather than a software topic.
Screenshots and icons
For software pages, your own interface is usually the best image. When you need an illustration, choose flat icons with even line weight so they sit together in a feature list. Avoid anything showing another company's logo or interface — crop it out in the editor on the image page or pick another file.
