Why it lives among People
The category belongs to the People section because the classic silhouette is a human profile. In practice it has grown into a manner rather than a subject: animals, aircraft, instruments and letters are here because they were drawn as a flat shape. If you need a person specifically, the pictograms of athletes and the hand gestures are the ones to look at; the rest overlaps with Animals, Transport and Symbols.
Solid shape, open shape
Most files are a single filled form, ready for vinyl cutting, stamps or a laser engraver. A few are the reverse — an open hand drawn as one thin line, a man in glasses holding a board, daisies with white petals. Those behave like line art: they need a light background and will not work as a stencil.
What makes a good one
A silhouette has to be recognisable with no detail inside, so the pose matters more than resolution. Look for gaps between limbs and body, clean corners and no grey anti-aliasing halo; the last shows up as a dirty outline once the shape is recoloured.
