The fireball and the powder cloud are photographic in feel and sit well in action posters, game effects or a cosmetics shot. The comic blast and the spiky badges are flat graphics with outlines, meant to carry a word inside them — BOOM, SALE, NEW.
Blending on dark backgrounds
Fire and light rays look strongest over black or deep blue. Setting the layer to Screen or Lighten in an editor hides any leftover halo at the edges and lets the glow spread naturally.
Scale matters
A burst behind a price or a button should stay smaller than the text it frames, otherwise it swallows the message. The full-size fireball is better used as a background element with type placed over the calm smoke area.
