Shape tells the story

A round drop with a highlight suggests purity and moisture. A splat with tapering spikes suggests impact and energy — the lime green one works as a sale burst or a paint shop badge. Drips running down suggest something spilled, ominous or messy.

Making drops look real

Pasted drops look fake when their highlight points a different way from the light in your photo. Flip or rotate them until the bright spot faces your light source, and add a faint shadow below each one.

When a single drop is enough

For an icon — water, oil, ink, blood donation — one isolated drop reads faster than a cluster. Take a single drop from the group, crop tightly and keep plenty of empty space around it.

Questions and answers

Are all drop images really transparent?

Real. We parse the PNG structure and keep only files with an alpha channel; anything with a painted-in background has been removed.

Are there large files for print?

In drop the sizes run from 663 to 3 538 px on the long side. Large ones are easiest to find with the “Largest” sort or the minimum-width filter.

How many files can I download?

No registration. The only limit is a few dozen files per minute per address, so the catalogue cannot be bulk-scraped.

Can I use drop images commercially?

The catalogue gathers images from open sources. Before commercial use confirm the rights with the author — the source link is on the image page.
