From textbook basics to research

The benzene ring with a methyl branch and the five-membered nitrogen ring are first-year material, suited to a quiz or a handout. The macrocycle with a sulfonamide tail and the long quinolinone drug belong in a pharmacology lecture or a research poster.

Reactions, not just molecules

Two images show chemistry in motion: a left-to-right scheme with bracketed intermediates and a note on the mirror plane, and a pair of labelled reactions from aromatic rings to their products. They explain a mechanism rather than name a compound.

Line drawing or model

Everything except one image is a flat line formula. The ball-and-stick model with a red oxygen atom is the only three-dimensional view — the natural choice for a banner where formulas would look dry.

Questions and answers

Is the transparency real or a painted checkerboard?

Real. We parse the PNG structure and keep only files with an alpha channel; anything with a painted-in background has been removed.

Are there large files for print?

Originals range from 601 to 3 920 pixels. On download you can shrink to 64–1024 px; enlarging beyond the original is not offered.

Do I need to register to download?

No registration. The only limit is a few dozen files per minute per address, so the catalogue cannot be bulk-scraped.

Can I use chemistry images commercially?

The catalogue gathers images from open sources. Before commercial use confirm the rights with the author — the source link is on the image page.
