Frame or edging
A closed frame holds something in the middle: a photo, a price, a short title. An open edging such as the lace strip runs along one side of a page and leaves the content free. Decide which you need before browsing, because the two rarely swap well.
Match the frame to the tone
The glittering silver frame with a heart is made for Valentine photos; the meander border reads classical and suits certificates or museum material; the ink ring feels calm and Asian-inspired. The scalloped green circle is playful enough for a children's worksheet.
Leave room inside
Check how much of the frame is empty before placing text in it. Thick ornamental borders eat into the centre, so long titles fit better into the plain ring or the lined sun frame than into a jewelled metal one.
Questions and answers
Is the transparency real or a painted checkerboard?
Real. We parse the PNG structure and keep only files with an alpha channel; anything with a painted-in background has been removed.
Are there large files for print?
Originals range from 790 to 2 852 pixels. On download you can shrink to 64–1024 px; enlarging beyond the original is not offered.
Do I need to register to download?
No registration. The only limit is a few dozen files per minute per address, so the catalogue cannot be bulk-scraped.
Can I use border images commercially?
Terms depend on the specific image. We neither sell files nor issue licences; for commercial work check the source named on the image page.
