3D as a category
Most of Abstract & 3D is about form: sphere, polygon, low Poly, liquid, glass, metal. 3D gathers objects built and lit in a render engine, whatever they depict — a retro phone, a letter, an icon with depth — and what unites them is the look: soft shadows, reflections, volume.
Where rendered objects work
A shiny object on transparency gives a flat page some depth. Use it as the hero of a landing section, a contact block or a banner for a vintage sale. Rendered icons read best at medium sizes; shrunk too far, the lighting turns into muddy noise.
Matching the light
Every render has its own light source, and the highlights show where it sits. Put several 3D objects together only if they are lit from the same side, and add a soft shadow underneath yourself if the file doesn't carry one — otherwise the object floats.
