Where it sits among abstract shapes
Next to circles, curves and geometric patterns, the spiral is the one shape that shows movement: it reads as turning, pulling inward or spreading out. A circle is static and a curve has no centre; a spiral has both a centre and a direction.
Picking a usable file
A good spiral keeps its centre clean and its arms evenly spaced, or fading on purpose as here. Check the edges on a dark background: thin semi-transparent strokes can vanish against black, so this kind works best on light pages or as a soft overlay.
Scale and use
As a large background element it suggests hypnosis or a vortex; reduced to an icon it becomes a loading or processing sign. Leave space around it — cropping the outer arms breaks the sense of motion.
