One tool with its own meaning

The Objects section has a general Tool folder where hammers, drills and saws share space. The wrench gets a place of its own because it has become a sign in its own right: on screens it means settings, on shop fronts it means repairs, and two crossed spanners have long stood for a mechanic’s garage. Many pictures here are therefore emblems and icons rather than product shots.

Choosing the right spanner

For a settings or service icon, pick a single-colour wrench with a clearly open jaw; at small sizes the jaw is what makes it recognisable. Photos of chrome tools look sharp on a hardware shop listing, but check the metal highlights: a clean cut-out keeps the reflections inside the edge instead of a white fringe around it. Badges with ribbons and laurels usually leave space for a workshop name.
