The tool and the trace
In the Objects section, Pen covers anything with ink and Paper covers the sheet. Pencil takes the wooden pencil itself, coloured pencils in cups and tins, and artwork whose soft, grainy strokes show it was drawn by hand.
Graphite on transparency
Pencil lines are rarely solid: their grain is made of semi-transparent pixels. On white they look as drawn, on a dark background they can fade to almost nothing. Test the file on your real background before committing.
School or studio
A single yellow pencil says homework and back to school; a fan of coloured pencils says hobby, art class or a creative workshop. Choose by the audience, not just by the object.
