Data among the technology categories
Computer and hardware show machines, software the programs that run on them. Data is about the information itself: charts and tables, database cylinders, binary streams, server racks, dashboards and the flowing lines people use to picture big data.
Real chart or illustration
Some files here are actual plotted datasets with titles and axis labels; they are useful as examples in a statistics lesson or a tutorial on reading graphs, but not as decoration, since readers will try to read the numbers. Abstract data art, with glowing dots and grids, is the better choice for a banner or a report cover.
What to check
If the image is a real chart, read its title and labels before using it: they name places, dates and units that may not fit your text. Thin gridlines and small type also fade quickly when the file is scaled down.
