A line, not a frame

In Frames & Backgrounds, a frame or border closes a shape around content. A divider does the opposite: it sits between two blocks and tells the reader where one ends. It is thin, wide and usually symmetric, so it slots under a heading, between menu sections or above a signature.

Picking one that fits

Match the weight to the type: a hairline flourish next to heavy headlines looks lost. Look for even ends, since a divider cut off on one side will show when centred. Wide PNGs scale down cleanly; stretching a short one only blurs it.
