Background
Free PNG images in the category “Background”: 1 files with transparent background, no sign-up.
Pieces meant to sit behind everything else: repeating ornaments, rosettes, soft fills and tileable motifs. In the frames section this is the category for what goes underneath, not around.

Background, pattern or texture?
A texture imitates a material — paper, concrete, fabric. A pattern is a strict repeat. This category is broader: any element whose job is to fill space quietly, including clusters of ornaments that you scale up and fade out. Frames and borders, by contrast, only work along the edges.
What makes a usable file
Look at how the element behaves when enlarged: guilloche rosettes and fine line work stay crisp, while soft blurs turn muddy. A transparent PNG lets you tint the layer or lower its opacity, so the same motif can serve a certificate, a menu card or a slide.
