Mostly the stuffed kind: a teddy bear sitting with a bucket, spade and striped beach ball, and a jointed bear in a black shirt with a red heart on the chest, legs stuck straight out.

Toy bear or wild bear
In the Animals section the bear sits with the cow, wolf and panda, and the panda has its own page. The wild brown or polar bear suits wildlife articles and outdoor gear; the teddy bear is a separate animal altogether, closer to toys and childhood.
Where teddies work
A seated teddy is a stand-in for comfort and gifts. Add a heart and it becomes a Valentine's card; give it a bucket and spade and it sells a seaside holiday. Nursery pages, baby showers and charity appeals all lean on it.
Checking the fur
Plush fur and fuzzy outlines are where cut-outs fail. Look for a soft edge rather than a hard, sticker-like border, and make sure no background colour shows through between the arms and the body.
